Bluegrass/Roots Music Phenomena

  Roane County boasts a rich musical heritage particularly in the Bluegrass and Gospel realm.  Many musicians here have grown up playing a mandolin, bass guitar, harmonica or fiddle and played together with their families for years.  This part of our culture is enjoyed in Roane County in two locations regularly - Rockwood's Yonder Hollow on Friday nights beginning at 6:30 pm and at Kingston's Bradbury Community Center on every third Saturday night of the month as well as on Tuesday nights.  It is not unusual to find musica spontaneously breaking out in such unlikely locations as barber shops around the area.  Music and Tennessee - especially Roane County, just goes together.
